Group Support

SVYC's group support programs provide opportunities for parents to share their experiences and to come up with creative solutions to the ongoing conflict within their home.

Groups are offered periodically throughout the year, based on demand. If you are interested in attending, we recommend that you contact a Program Manager to express your interest and to find out the schedule of upcoming groups. Groups are open to all residents of Vancouver. Join our mailing list to keep informed of upcoming meeting group dates, times and locations.

COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING PARENTING GROUP
Is your teenager challenging? Is your teenager reactive when they do not get what they want? Are you at a lost in what else you can do with them? Are you ready to be proactive?

The Collaborative Problem Solving Group teaches an approach to dealing with difficult teen behaviors including ways to communicate and a treatment model for youth with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.

Our method was developed by Dr. Ross Greene and is based on a two-fold philosophy: (1) Children do well if they can and  (2) Your explanation guides your intervention. Each of the four sessions describes a new parenting approach and puts that approach into practice.

This group meets for two hours each week and is open to residents of Vancouver.  For more information, please contact Jane Ho: 604.325.2004
